Winter
In the winter which is primarily December to February, we get about 60 in of snow per year. Now remember, that's total for three or four months. It usually doesn't happen all at once. This is more than the US average which is just 28 in.
Our winter temperatures typically range from the teens to the low 20 degrees Fahrenheit with the average highs in the mid 30s to low 40s.

In Spring, which is March to May, the snowfall definitely begins to decrease. We might get a little bit of a skiff in March or even April, but by May, most of the average snowfall has turned to rain. But we can get up to 9 in April, depending on the year and what the weather is doing across the country.
Temperatures in the spring we'll see highs around 50° and lows about 25°. In may, those temperatures rise to about 67° with a low of about 38°.
In summer, of course we don't have snow, Now is the time to really get out there and enjoy all that Recreation around Dolores. In the summer we see average temperatures of about 75° and lows near 45°. This is really a comfortable and Mild summer, not like super hot summers in Arizona or the South.
In the fall, the snowfall will start in about November with an average monthly total of about 10 in or so. September we'll see highs of about 74° and lows near 45 degrees but as October and November approaches, those temperatures will drop to about 50° for a high and a low of around 25°.
We do see a lot of snowfall throughout the winter months and this allows for skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and sledding.
